While the word “traditional” often conjures images of semi-survivors that are more tarmac than trophy, it can also stand for something truly show worthy. Timeless designs like this cool coupe often feature an impressive mix of style and approachability. And with that in mind, this attractive Ford is a living example of why, decades after its creation, traditional hot rodding still enjoys a dedicated fan base. Featuring proven flathead power and a tough 3-speed transmission, this solid resto-mod probably spent the better part of its 70 years as a stylish cruiser used for family fun. And today, rolling as a certified head-turner, it's poised for the spotlight and destined for the front row. Ready to step up to the charm and class that made Detroit famous? take a close look at this old-school cruiser!

“DON'T GO MESSIN' WITH THAT SHOEBOX FORD”

The initial hallmark of this exceptional Ford is a sleek profile that's been restored to very high standards, and attention to detail. To achieve those striking good looks, the car underwent a frame-off, no expense spared restoration that involved literally hundreds of hours of paint and metalwork. All Gaps were trimmed and fit to perfection. The paintwork included a complete strip to bare metal that was followed by rugged epoxy primer and some of the best metallic 2-stage on the market. And today, roughly 30 trophies later, this classic literally defines the term 'front row cruiser'!

American optimism at its very finest, this coupe's ornate design is a stunning example of how popular culture shapes the transportation industry. At the front of the car, a bold grille centers an amber spotlight between a smoothed bumper, clear parking lamps, and stainless-trimmed headlights. At the top of those lights, a louvered hood centers tasteful pinstriping in front of the stainless-trimmed glass that's seated between elegant mirrors and polished, 2-speed wipers. Beneath those blades, stylish pinstripes chase factory stainless amid shaved doors, a polished fuel filler, and subtle fender skirts. And at the back of those skirts, a second smoothed bumper frames factory taillights, correct reverse lamps, and a chrome-trimmed trunk that's centered on more tasteful pinstriping.

FLATTY FOR LIFE!

If Henry Ford perfected one aspect of his automobiles, it was the Ford V8. Introduced in 1932 as a durable, torque-rich competitor to more expensive and labor-intensive 8-cylinders, the flathead has established an unmatched reputation as the go-to mill for vintage and kustom car enthusiasts. And, in keeping with tradition, this stellar classic is powered by 284 cubic inches of rowdy 'flatty' V8. That bored and stroked mill eats through a Lokar-controlled Holley carburetor, which is perched between a stylized air cleaner and a lightweight Edelbrock intake. Twenty-four studs cap aluminum Edelbrock heads that work well with quality stainless valves and adjustable Johnson lifters. Under those heads, a tough Scat crank turns tough Ross pistons at the sides of a fluid Schneider cam. Fire is provided by a web of loomed wires and a hot MSD distributor. Spent gases exit through ceramic-coated shorty headers. Cooling is provided by a big Walker radiator. And the car's dressed engine bay features high-quality ancillaries like a Hi-Torque mini starter, pliable FoMoCo hoses, and a trusty MQQN Equipment temperature gauge.

UPGRADES WHERE IT COUNTS

Park this coupe on a lift and you'll find cleanly coated floors that make an excellent backdrop for substantial and proven upgrades. A 26-spline C4 uses a Lokar kickdown kit to accurately apportion power to an 8-inch axle that's finished with smooth, 2.73 gears. That drivetrain hangs in a factory frame that's been stripped, measured for trueness, and fully powder-coated. Those bones roll on a completely rebuilt suspension, which cages 2-inch drop spindles and 2-inch drop springs between upgraded sway bars. Power-assisted stops course through a floor-mounted booster retrofitted front discs and upgraded rear drums. True-dual exhaust suspends glasspack-style Smithy's in front of polished stainless tips. And at the corners, chromed hot rod steelies spin 6.70R15 American Classic whitewalls around polished center caps.

AS CLASSY AS EVER

Inside this classic, tasteful custom upholstery is fittingly upscale. Broad bench seats, which sport rich, 2-tone covers, ride clean carpet that frames muted Lokar pedals, and a tall Lokar shifter. In front of those thrones, a sculpted dash tilts modern Dakota Digital telemetry above an upgraded AM/FM radio and Bi-Level heat. At the sides of that dash, 2-tone panels frame correct chrome handles. And the driver spins an artful Ford steering wheel around a modern, tilting column.

Backing elegant style with proven power, this finely-tuned Ford was made for the limelight. Ready to take Sunday drives to a whole new level? Call or fill out a contact form here to claim this rod for yourself!
