ONE-OWNER Y82 SE "BANDIT" STYLE CAR with Hurst t-tops, 400ci 6.6L Automatic

Growing up in the mid to late '70s, the ultimate muscle car was, and always will be, the 1977 Trans Am Special Edition. Everyone talked about, wanted, and drolled over the car. After watching 'Smokey and the Bandit," people young and old dreamed of jumping into Bandit's Trans Am, putting "the metal to the pedal, and the thing to the floor," and then tearing across the open road where no one else could stop you... not even Sheriff Buford T. Justice! The generation that loves these 'birds have been moving into the collector car hobby and will continue to do so for years to come. As a result, second-generation Trans Ams (especially these "Bandit" style cars) have been RAPIDLY gaining value.

This is a very well documented, numbers matching real deal Y82 that's equipped with Pontiac's highly desirable 400ci 6.6L engine, an automatic transmission for highway crusing and best of all, it's a highly-original, ONE-OWNER car!

EXTERIOR:
Being mostly original and meticulously maintained and cared for by one previous owner, it appears the car retains almost all of its original code 19 paint and Special Edition striping (including the iconic bird gracing the hood) which is in good condition with typical wear (see our detailed photos) that is expected from a car that was born in 1977. All the authentic Y82 touches are present such as gold headlight surrounds, gold bird decals on the sail panel, Germanic style “Trans Am” lettering, gold wheels, and the quintessential gold with matte gold hood decal accented with the outlining stripes around the car. And those Hurst removable t-tops feature original weather stripping that still appears fresh and in better condition than what many late-model cars have to offer. As amazing as this car looks in these photos, it really doesn't do the car justice even and in order to appreciate the car fully and form your own opinions, we highly encourage anyone who is seriously interested to come and take a look at it in person.

INTERIOR:
Opening up the doors and you'll find a very nice black, vinyl interior that wraps Special Edition-exclusive gold trim in a whole lot of old-school style! Everything appears to remain in original condition, including the gold dash bezel and 3-spoke steering wheel, a further testament to just how well this car has been cared for. Out in the back, the trunk retains the original mat, jack assembly, spare tire, and a GM stowaway spare tire inflator, as well as original, Hurst-branded t-top storage bags included in the sale. Given the incredibly good condition of this Trans Am, the doors and trunk lid shut with a solid thud, expressing the quality that is often found on German automobiles.

ENGINE:
Pop open the Firebird-adorned hood and you'll find this Pontiac's all-original 6.6 liter W72 V8 which wears a correct casting number, a correct partial VIN and a correct W72-exclusive "WA" engine stamp. All the hard parts around the motor, from the belt-driven accessories to the brake booster and optional air conditioning hanging on the firewall are of course factory correct. And as expected tags, markings and stamps are just where they should be from the date-coded core support that proudly displays the original emissions tag to the car's cowl tag. The engine bay itself retains its all-original and unrestored condition meaning there is typical patina from a car made in the late 70s but it is obvious that the car was well cared for over the years.

With a value curve that is very quickly on the rise at auctions across the country and equipped with almost all of the highly desirable options, this '77 Trans Am is an incredible example that will fit in any collection and will definitely appreciate with time considering this year marks the 45th anniversary of one of the best car films ever made... 'Smokey and the Bandit." It's not often that 2nd generation Firebirds of this caliber come around (especially a ONE-OWNER car,) so this isn't one to sit on as it will sell quickly considering the current market. If you're ready to add to your portfolio, or simply enjoy a car that you've always cherished and dreamed of, this SE Trans Am is an excellent choice! (Oh, and yes... the Burt Reynolds and Sally Field windshield banner you see in the photos is included with the sale and makes for a great setup at any car show.)
