The original owner bought it new, and drove this car into his 80's until he was no longer able to drive. The car was then willed to a relative, who then sold it to the gentleman that built it up as you see it here in these pictures, with a project that started in 2006 and didn't end for another two and a half years, and tens of thousands of dollars.We build cars like this all the time for our customers here at Custom Classics and If you were to commission us to build one for you, it could easily cost well over $240,000 to build something of this quality with these kinds of parts … if not more. All receipts for the complete build come with the car.DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSIONCombining tubular chrome control arms with small lowering blocks and drop spindles and QA1 coil-over shocks, this Delray provides a comfortable, durable ride that's spiced by improved handling. At the center of that satin black skeleton, a proven GM Turbo 400-Trans, with a Gear Vendors 6 speed under/overdrive sends torque from a 2,800RPM stall converter to a stout Ford 9-inch. with 3:70 gears by Currie. At the front of that awesome drivetrain, a power-assisted Unisteer Rack & Pinon steering makes quick work of tight spots and sharp turns. At the corners of the car, modern, power-assisted calipers squeeze a combination of vented and drilled and slotted rotors. At the center of the floor, the spent gases flow from custom made jet hot coated headers in to flow master 40 series mufflers and aluminized pipes. Lets not forget the electric exhaust cut-outs, every guy with a pulse likes those. And all this mechanical greatness rolls on polished Budnik wheels, which spin the aggressive looking Hankook tires 235/40ZR18 fronts, and 255/40ZR 19 rears designed to display, this Chevy's clean floors were expertly restored to perfectly match its super slick body. And everything, from the car's stainless fuel tank and polished transmission pan to its CVR starter and Milodon oil pan, unites to create one sharp and dependable cruiser.INTERIORPeer through the car's smoked windows and you'll find a full custom leather interior that was installed and built by Armando's Custom Interiors of California. Luxurious power front buckets and a fixed rear custom seat has soft hides that display no significant wear. Between those seats, a contoured console hides controls for the aforementioned power windows, and Electric cut outs behind the convenient center arm rest and storage compartment. Above that console, a leather wrapped dash hangs attractive, rearview mirror over the Classic Instruments telemetry, custom Alpine audio system and controls for the car's heat and Vintage Air air conditioning. At the sides of that dash, custom door panels anchor sculpted armrests between polished trim and an array of polished handles. At the floor, quality Dynamat insulation balances the leather flooring under billet foot pedals. In front of the driver, a classy Budnik steering wheel spins around a polished, tilting column. And behind the passengers, an Armando's upholstered trunk hides the battery.
