1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

I am pleased to present this gorgeous 1970 Chevelle SS 396. It underwent a recent ground-up frame on restoration and is in absolutely super condition. It features bucket seats, console with gauges, 4 speed trans. and factory working air conditioning.

This car is documented with Canadian paperwork showing it to be a real SS 396 and not a clone. The car is painted in a beautiful factory correct Black Cherry Metallic (paint code 78) base coat and clear and then wet sanded and buffed to an incredible shine with the stripes underneath the clear coat (as they should be). The body is laser straight. The interior is new pearl white with white vinyl top. The car came originally with a black interior and black vinyl top but the current owner chose to change the interior and top to the current white color.

Gauges were restored and set back to 0. Mileage shows only 83 miles since restoration. Restoration was completed within the past year. Be sure to take the time to study the pictures carefully. Truly an impressive Chevelle.

According to my research, VIN decodes as follows:

1 - Chevrolet
36 - Chevelle V-8
37 - 2 door sport coupe
0 - Year 1970
1- Assembly plant - Oshawa, On, Canada - Production date December 12, 1969.

According to the build sheet, this car features:

D88 - Striping/body
F41 - Suspension/firm ride and handling package
G80 - Rear axle/posi traction
G94 - Rear axle 3:31 ratio

J50 - Vacuum power brakes
L34 - Engine/396 CU. IN V8
M21 - 4 speed manual transmission/close ratio

UM2 - AM/FM push button radio and tape player (currently has a factory AM radio installed)
** the car also includes the original owner's manual.

Under the working cowl induction hood is a non #'s matching 396/350hp V8. When it was restored, a set of jet hot coated headers and a 3 inch aluminized exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers was installed. The sound is great!! This car runs strong and drives like new.

Door gaps, trunk gaps, fender and hood gaps are as near perfect as has ever been seen. Alignment of the headlamp bezels where they meet the hood is better than factory new. The hood to fender gap near the windshield lies flat which is a major achievement in the restoration world (most sit up too high at the back edge).

Only defect noticed is a small paint chip located on the drivers side door that has been touched up. It is barely noticeable but in the spirit of full disclosure, it is worth mentioning.
